Denver Go Red for Women Celebration: Empowering Women’s Health

On May 2, 2024, the Denver Go Red for Women Celebration took place at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. The annual event celebrated its 20th anniversary and is dedicated to raising awareness about heart disease and stroke, which remain the No. 1 killer of women.

Go Red for Women emphasizes the importance of women supporting each other. More than 44% of women ages 20 and older live with some form of cardiovascular disease. But women also have the best resource: each other. By banding together, supporting, teaching, and empowering one another, we can make sure no woman faces health challenges alone.

The event was buzzing with energy and nearly 400 attendees had a chance to come together for an evening of connection and celebration.

Honoring Inspirational Women

The celebration honored Maureen McDonald with the inaugural Colorado Visionary Award. This award recognizes inspirational women who work to empower others through education and awareness, encouraging them to take charge of their health. Maureen’s commitment to promoting well-being exemplifies the spirit of the Go Red for Women movement.

We also honored the remarkable achievements of the 2024 Woman of Impact winner, Alicia Harvey, and the 2024 Teen of Impact winner, Morgan Friedman.

Over the course of a nine-week blind competition, the Woman of Impact and Teen of Impact nominees collaborated with their teammates to raise funds and engage in mission-related activities, earning points along the way. The nominees who accumulated the highest number of points at the end of the campaign are named the 2024 Colorado Woman of Impact and Teen of Impact Award Winners.

Congratulations to Alicia, Maureen, and Morgan and thank you for helping us make a difference in the lives of the women we love!
