Join Meme Callnin, Chair of the 2024 Go Red for Women Campaign at the Celebration on May 2

Since 2004 our Go Red for Women campaign, has addressed the awareness and clinical care gaps of a women’s greatest health threat, cardiovascular disease. As Go Red celebrates 20 years of making an impact, and we celebrate our 100-year anniversary, we are prepared to meet the evolving needs of women now, and at every age, every stage and every season of their lives as their trusted, relevant source for credible, equitable health solutions.

We’re excited to announce that Meme Callnin, the Mountain States growth leader at Mercer, is serving as the chair of the Colorado Go Red for Women campaign. Join us in celebrating the campaign’s achievements at the Go Red for Women Celebration, happening on Thursday, May 2 at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science.

Learn more about Meme and her passion for Go Red for Women:

What’s important to you as a volunteer for the American Heart Association?

I believe in the mission, across the board, for both men and women. Too many people lose their lives as a result of preventable heart attack and stroke.  If more people truly understood the signs – and how they differ for women – think how many lives might be saved. The investment in research, education and awareness that the American Heart Association makes year over year is important and can really make an impact. It is also very concerning to me that the prevalence of heart disease in younger women is on the rise and the awareness is declining.

What is your past involvement with the American Heart Association?

I have been part of the Denver Go Red for Women Campaign Board since 2019 and have enjoyed watching the mission expand with more focus on more areas where we can have a real impact toward influencing heart health – nutrition, healthy pregnancies, and a focus on Hispanic, black and other ethnic groups who have even higher risk.

Is there anything you’d like to share about you company’s support of women’s, community work, the AHA or you?

Mercer is an organization who believes strongly in health equity – it is something we actively work with our clients on to help ensure their benefits programs support health equity. The mission of the American Heart Association and the Go Red Campaign align closely to Mercer’s values and what we do.

What are your favorite parts about Go Red for Women?

All the great women I have the opportunity to meet and work with as part of the campaign!

As the American Heart Association enters its next century, we know the future of heart health is in good hands because when women come together with passion and purpose, there is nothing they can’t achieve.
